Happy New Year!

Let’s start off the New Year with the top 5 things you can do now for a New Year and a New You! All of these tips will help you adhere to the resolutions and shifts you want to create in your life. This is a great way to have a clean slate for 2014.

1. Forgive yourself! Let go of the past! It’s gone and you can’t get it back. When we replay the old movies in our head and beat ourselves up for what we did or did not do we can’t move forward. So write yourself a letter, scream it out loud, or silently forgive yourself. It will be hard but so rewarding. It’s like lifting a weight off your chest. Do it now, you will be glad you did!

2. Deal with your emotions. What you do not deal with is still there. Feel what you need to feel. I give you permission to be pissed-off, sad, disappointed, or whatever you need. But feel it and release it, so it does not lead to self-destructive behaviors. We do a lot to cover our emotions, we overeat, drink, use drugs, have sex with people we don’t even like etc. Let out the old stuff so you can begin creating something new. Emotions are powerful blocks, so deal with them.

3. Stop focusing on what you DON’T want. Too often we think of what we fear. I like the saying “worrying is like praying for what you don’t want” but worry is part of the human experience. You have to deal with it. Take what you worry about and create an affirmation or mantra that is positive and when the worry creeps in, shift your consciousness by repeating an affirmation. Example: Worries about money. Affirmation: I have plenty of money for my needs and luxuries.

4. Get really clear on what you DO want? It’s a new year so what do you really want? I have met with too many clients who could not answer this question. Get your journal and just begin listing what you want to bring into your life. It can be anything. Keep it simple and think BIG. Now you can create a vision board that represents the desires you have. Cut out lots of pictures and words that will remind you of what you want in your life. Look at it daily, it will create miracles.

5. Figure out what holds you back. Know what you fear. Are you afraid of failing, being alone, not making enough money? Find out what your personal kryptonite is so you can overcome it. We ALL get in our own way, but once we know why it is easier to forge through the fear. If you do not know what you fear it becomes the compass from which all your decisions are made. Fear is not bad it is there to keep you safe. However, we can have too much of it. Sadly, our fear lies to us. It keeps us very small.

This year, I am walking into my destiny and releasing any control I thought I had. Control is such a delusion but part of my fear. I have to deal with it. What do you REALLY want in 2014? Is there anything holding you back? Feel free to share below.
